Pierce County Eviction Prevention
The Pierce County Eviction Prevention program supports eligible low-income households with their past-due rent. Submitting an application does not guarantee payment. Due to limited funding, eligible households are chosen for assistance through a fair random lottery system.
- The Lottery is held on the 10th of each month. You would need to submit a completed application prior to the 10th to be entered into the fair random lottery system.
Requirements:
- Must live in Pierce County.
- Must be a renter and currently reside in the unit.
- All persons on the lease MUST be included in the application.
- Cannot be in a subsidized unit (Section 8, PSH, etc.).
- Must have an eviction notice, 30-day, or 14-day pay or vacate notice in hand.
- Must have past-due rent (program cannot serve utilities only).
- Must be behind on rent for 3 months or less.
- Household income must be under 80% Area Median Income.

Tacoma Energy Assistance Program
(for qualified residents living inside the City Limits of Tacoma)
The Energy Assistance Program helps income qualified residents living inside the City Limits of Tacoma with their heating and energy costs. The program will also provide education on energy conservation and refer you to our Weatherization Assistance Program so they can help you make your home safe, healthier, comfortable and more energy efficient.

Pierce County Energy Assistance Program
(for residents outside of Tacoma City Limits)
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) pays heating bills directly to utility companies for eligible applicants. Payments are based on eligible household’s fuel usage for the past 12 months and income.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants must reside in Pierce County outside of the City of Tacoma, provide social security cards, a photo ID, and documents to verify your address and income. Applicants must also meet the program’s income guidelines to receive assistance.
